01:08 < CIA-9> amery * r11167 /trunk/target/mnemosyne/mnemosyne.pl: * changed mnemosyne.pl to not populate a list of pkgsel files, instead generate a sh script to output awk code acording to enabled modules (WIP)
01:08 < _Ragnar_> o_O
01:08 < _Ragnar_> that sounds confusing;)
01:09 < menomc> i use to collect a list of files with pkgsel format
01:10 < menomc> and on each loop i calling parse_pkgsel to produce an .awk file and then filter packages file
01:10 < menomc> i want to avoid those calls to parse_pkgsel
01:10 < menomc> generating a file with lot of if, which prints the awk code i want :)
01:11 < menomc> to speed up mnemosyne's Config process
01:11 < _Ragnar_> ah ok :)
01:11 < _Ragnar_> what is mnemosyne anyway?
01:12 < menomc> my target
01:13 < _Ragnar_> :D yes but what does it build?:)
01:14 < menomc>

02:05 < Shingo--> menomc: the site, www2.conosurseguros.cl/t2 is a personal page?
02:06 < menomc> Shingo--: a prototype for www.t2-project.org
02:07 < menomc> Shingo--: i have been asking rene for www3.t2-project.org pointing to there the whole week :(
02:07 < menomc> Shingo--: why?
02:08 < Shingo--> because you always using this site to show your work in mnemosyne.
02:09 < Shingo--> I like the ideia the your target, but I don't have time yet to test it. :(
02:09 < menomc> did you read about the mnemosyne-based targets i'm writting?
02:10 < Shingo--> a little, where is have more docs/info?
02:10 < menomc> just there
02:10 < menomc> and my svn :p
02:10 < Shingo--> in target/?
02:10 < menomc> only mnemosyne is on t2's svn
02:11 < menomc> sedu, lamassu and other mnemosyne based targets i have used for business are on my personal svn
02:11 < Shingo--> the week part of t2 is always the doc/info.
02:11 < menomc> if i win the lotery i want to buy t2-powered.net to let people house there their targets
02:12 < menomc> Shingo--: we are too few people and lot of things to do :(
02:12 < Shingo--> what kind os business? are have made the distro for your clients?
02:12 < menomc> servers, routers and desktops
02:13 < menomc> business desktops, not toy desktops
02:13 < Shingo--> I known, soon I'll help more the project. and the project will help me. :)
02:13 < menomc> :)
02:13 < menomc> that's the idea behind opensource
02:13 < menomc> all for one and one for all
02:14 < menomc> Shingo--: my t2's plone has pt as language, you will have to help translating there :)
02:15 < Shingo--> I don't experience yet to make new "safe" builds, but soon as possible I'll make target for my needs, maybe based in mnemosyne. it's to early to say.
02:15 < menomc> mnemosyne is a bit 'unstandard' for some people
02:15 < menomc> i want something working good, not working 'standard'
02:16 < Shingo--> because this i like it. :)
02:17 < menomc> :)
02:17 < menomc> i'm going home now, cu :)

22:53 < rxr> re
22:54 < Baldzius> i thought i'm only here alive :)
22:54 < Baldzius> rxr you have a min? :)
22:55 < Baldzius> as always my head is full of stupid questions
22:55 < rxr> oehm - barely ... - but yeah - what Q do you have ?
22:55 < Baldzius> well supose i am building target
22:55 < Baldzius> and one package compile fails
22:56 < Baldzius> if i fix it
22:56 < Baldzius> and restart target build it start from begining?
22:56 < rxr> no
22:56 < rxr> Build-Target only builds missing stuff
22:56 < Baldzius> or where it ended
22:57 < rxr> and it only rebuilds erros automatically up to the stage you selected in the config
22:57 < rxr> the default is 5
22:57 < rxr> so it will abort on an error until stage 5 and will retry those errors when you rerun Build-Target
22:57 < rxr> when you want to rebuild a 5-* or up error you need to remove the .err either manually or using Create-ErrList
22:58 < Baldzius> got it, thank you :)
22:58 < rxr> this is for convinience so that important sutff (pre stage 5) stops the build before causing a lot of errors - and 5-* stuff that is broken (normally less important suff) is not rebuild everytime you start Build-Target again
22:58 < rxr> of course all of this can be tweaked in Config ,-)
23:00 < Baldzius> one thing i miss right now is that Emerge-Pkg doesn't calculate dependecies corectly
23:00 < rxr> the dependencies are generated automatically - some deps are not 100% correct - that is some are too much
23:01 < rxr> those "stay" deps are normally caused by havor Make or configure files that run e.g. dpkg or os for no good reason
23:01 < rxr> that is why mysql (just an example I noticed today) depends on dpkg :-(
23:01 < rxr> I'll continue to improve heuristics so that we soon have perfectly generted dependencies
23:04 < Baldzius> i didn't notice on todo plan , is there maybe it's already in, that i could install t2 system from live, like mepis
23:04 < rxr> well - the latext release not automatically - the next release will include an installer
23:04 < rxr> valentin: right?
23:07 < Baldzius> :)
23:07 < rxr> you could manually using rsync or simillar methods and some post-install work
23:22 < rxr> valentin: Carmack gave the following reply:
23:22 < rxr> Personally, I think the Q3 code is pretty clean on the whole. It was a commercial product done under time pressure, so it isn't a polished gem, but I consider it good.
23:22 < rxr> Anyone working on the Q3 codebase today should just delete all the asm code and use the C implementations. Making a commercial game with fairly high end requirements go 10% faster is sometimes worth writing some asm code, but years later when the frame rate pressure is essentially gone, the asm code should just be dumped in the name of maintainability. All the comments in the world wouldn't change this decision a bit.
23:29 < valentin> hi rxr
23:30 < valentin> well, as you know i have a more or less functional installer for the live cd
23:30 < valentin> only a tmpfs issue
23:31 < valentin> rxr: can you turn on your athlon ?
23:32 < valentin> i need to sync some bits from the original livecd
23:32 < rxr> valentin: it is on - I have no idea what happend
23:32 < rxr> I know ssh is down
23:33 < valentin> ouhm
23:33 < rxr> when I left it was building t2-trunk and was at 5-glibc ...
23:33 < rxr> I'm in susan's kitchen right now ...
23:33 < valentin> is it still running ?
23:33 < rxr> answering pings
23:33 < rxr> but not ssh
23:33 < valentin> hm...
23:34 < rxr> you name it - never happend before
23:34 < rxr> and I know ssh was running when I left
23:34 < rxr> no idea what f*cked up ...
23:34 < rxr> I can review tomorrow after breakfast
23:34 < rxr> btw. I would need to get the iMac back tomorrow I think
23:34 < rxr> what is your schedule for tomorrow ?
23:35 < valentin> in the afternoon i will be in AH
23:36 < rxr> so I better come around lunch time to grab the iMac ?
23:36 < valentin> i hope gsmp will be up in the morning, so we can finish the download of t2 isos first :)
23:36 < rxr> or should we meet at the S-railway ?
23:36 < valentin> rxr: we could do so...
23:36 < rxr> susan has recent ISOs anyway
23:36 < rxr> t2-2.1-trunk
23:37 < valentin> cool..
